DESCRIPTION:\nTammesalu, Sherwood and Reintamm\n\n\n\nDebussy – Kapp – Pärt – de Val – Buxtehude – Brahms\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMiddle Grey is privileged to have three world class musicians brought together in the form of Trio Estonia to perform a unique combination of pieces on strings, piano, and our beautiful Casavant organ.\n\n\n\nTrio Estonia invites you to an evening centred on Debussy’s Piano Trio No. 1, framed by expressive works for organ and cello by Estonian master composers Artur Kapp and Arvo Pärt. The programme is completed by Dorothy de Val’s Estonian Dances for Cello and Organ and timeless pieces by Buxtehude and Brahms.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAare Tammesalu\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAn Estonian cellist, concert organizer, music producer, and educator. Born in Tallinn in 1960, he studied cello at the Tallinn State Conservatory and later earned a master’s degree at the Estonian Academy of Music. He performs widely as a soloist and chamber musician, presenting both classical and contemporary repertoire, and has appeared in numerous European countries, Canada, Israel, Iran, Russia, and the USA. Tammesalu is also active as a festival founder, ensemble member, and advocate for Estonian music. He is the artistic director for the Catherine Palace Music Series in Tallinn as well as the artistic director for the Mustjala Music Festival in Saaremaa (Estonia).\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAare Tammesalu is the founding member of the Tobias String Quartet and has also played in different other ensembles, including Reval Ensemble and Resonabilis. He has given recitals in Estonia, Latvia, Germany, Finland and U.S. As a chamber musician he has performed in many European countries and taken part in Estonian music festivals, including festival Tubin and his time, NYYD Festival, Glasperlenspiel, Suure-Jaani Music Festival and Tallinn International Organ Festival. As a soloist he has performed with several symphony orchestras, such as Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Estonian National Opera Symphony Orchestra, XXI Century Orchestra, Kotka City Orchestra, and Pärnu City Orchestra. He has collaborated with conductors like Jüri Alperten, Peeter Lilje, Paul Mägi, Aivo Välja, Lauri Sirp and Ants Soots.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNorman Reintamm\n\n\n\n\n\nNorman is an Estonian-Canadian conductor, concert organist, and pianist. He holds a B.A. in Music, a Post Graduate Diploma in Orchestral Conducting with a minor in organ performance from the Royal College of Music in London, an LTCL in organ performance from Trinity College of Music, and the Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music UK organ diploma with high merit.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHe is the Conductor and Music Director for the Georgian Bay Concert Choir. This summer he will be performing at Ripon Cathedral in England, and then travelling to Northern Europe to perform at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Tallinn as well as performing with ‘Trio Estonia’ at the Summer Catherine Palace Series.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVera Sherwood\n\n\n\n\n\nVera Sherwood is a distinguished violinist known for her artistry as both a soloist and chamber musician. She first studied violin at the Perm Music School in Perm Russia, then at Moscow Gnessin High College and finally at the M. Glinka Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory where she received a Diploma of Orchestra Artist, Artist of Chamber Ensemble and Teacher, as well as Diploma of Quartet Performance Artist. She was assistant concertmaster of the Academic Philharmonic Orchestra of Nizhny Novgorod and both principal second violin and resident soloist in the Moscow Chamber Orchestra “The Seasons.” Vera has toured extensively throughout Europe as a soloist and chamber musician, was a member of the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra until 2011 when she moved to Canada where she played with the Glenn Gould Quartet and in 2012 she joined the Niagara Symphony Orchestra. Vera is currently teaching at her private studio and is a violin instructor at Brock and McMaster Universities.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n      \n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlayTrioEstonia plays “Winter” from “The Seasons” by Astor Piazzolla\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe gratefully acknowledge the crucial support of the Estonian Loovüksus musical organization and The New Classical FM 102.9 Radio in bringing these artists to us. This tour to Canada is seen as a catalyst for further educational and artistic ventures between Estonian and Canadian artists, encouraging not only the teaching aspect of music making, but also promoting the exchange of ideas between musicians in these two countries.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
